Small Ikea haul

I can't help myself! I think it is nearly impossible to go to Ikea and not buy anything.

I went there this morning with my daughter to check out their couches. We will need a sofa bed and a new couch.

This is what I came home with:

3 packs of 8 wooden hangers for Sam's new wardrobe. $6.99 a pack.
BUMERANG Hanger IKEA
A green throw for Sam's green bedroom. $5.99POLARVIDE Throw IKEA The fleece throw feels soft against your skin and can be machine washed.
Tea towels. A 4 pack for $2.99.
ELLY Tea towel IKEA The colours are retained wash after wash thanks to the yarn dyed cotton. With loop for hanging/easy storing when not in use.
Heidi loved all the stuffed toys and she fell in love with this cat. $5.99
LILLEPLUTT Soft toy IKEA
My son Andrew has been saying that he would love a lamp to put next to his bed in his new room, but he wanted one with a pull cord, not a switch. So I found his this cute one. $24.99
ÅRSTID Table lamp IKEA
But the shade was a little girly as it has pleats in it, so I bought this plain white one. $19.99.

More expensive than I thought. I thought it was $9.99 and once I got home saw it was twice that. Grrr... Anyway my son loves it and I will re-use the other one on some other lamp. Maybe in Heidi's big girl room.

So that is all I got today.

Wardrobe fitout and under the stairs

This weekend I didn't get a lot done because of other various weekend activities for the kids. But we did achieve a few things.

Dave spent Saturday finishing off the underside of the staircase The before looked like this:
The unfinished underside of the staircase.

Under the staircase landing
We had some left over VJ panelling so we used that to line it and the just put a pine edging. I think it looks great!

We still need to finish it off at the edges a bit neater.

Then he got to work on the wardrobes in Sammy's room. Added two split hanging rails:
Hanging rails
and added shelves..

Wardrobe shelves
and finished it off with a smaller hat shelf of the right and a long hanging rail.
Wardrobe interior with 3 hanging rails
Here is Dave cutting the last rail to size.

My job was merely painting in Andrew's blue room. I finished the ceiling, the blue and the grey and made a start on the skirting boards and chair rail. I need to buy more paint though as I ran out.

We have ordered the bedroom and wardrobe doors and also arranged for the painter to come back  next week to paint the rest of the upstairs VJ ceiling. Might get him to paint the doors too.

So that's all at the moment. Apart from trying to pick a wall colour for the rest of the house. Eek! That is fun.

Living room ceiling painted. Phew!

Yesterday, Brad the painter, came and started the living room ceiling. Poor guy had sore shoulders and worn out fingers from filing all the hundreds of tiny nail holes. Then today he came back and sanded and painted it all.

I am so happy with how it looks now. So much better than I thought it would.

It cost us $650 including paint, of which we still have about 7 litres left. Hopefully enough to finish upstairs.

Money well spent I think!
