One more thing organised

I have paid the deposit for the energy audit to be done.

Hopefully they can do that super quick and can get it to the surveyor asap.

After a few more calls to the engineers boss, he has promised us the drawings be sent to us by today. I am not holding my breath.

We also have to go back to the draftsman to do a few things for us. He is a pain to deal with too. No one likes to be helpful in this industry.

So much paperwork

My goodness. It seems were are now bogged down in paperwork and red tape. We are waiting for our owner builder permit to be issued (should be this week according to their 2-3 week turnaround process) and can't do much more until then. We paid the surveyors fees today so at least when it does come through he can hopefully lodge the building permit quickly.

Oh but Dave still has to take him some more paperwork. Oh but we are waiting for the engineer to gives us their registration details so we can fill out the paperwork and they aren't replying to the emails. Yawn!

Then there is the energy rating. That is meant to be quick once he has the final engineered drawings. If only the bloody engineer would finish them. We got an invoice to pay for the drawings from the engineer but are not paying them until the work is done right!

Sick house

This little yellow house has been a house of sickness this past week and a half. I have Mum staying with us too. 4 out of 6 people are sick so there is many tissues and coughs around the house right now. Thank goodness we are all starting to come out the other side of it now.

So also with Mum here, I haven't done much new around the place. I swear she travels with more things than I own in total. It just makes us more aware of how badly we need this renovation.

On that front, there is no news. There have been a few mistakes in the plans that we have been getting corrected but each time we find something else wrong.

On Friday we are getting out attic ladder fixed so we will be able to go up into the attic again. Yay!

The attic ladder is currently in the nursery and it will have to get moved during the reno. We think we will put it in the boys room (which will be the baby's new room). Else it would have to go in the kitchen/hallway area which would just look weird.

This is the type we have got and we love it. (This is an old photo taken about 4 years ago)

Actually I found this one, in the hallway and doesn't look to bad. But I think our rafters run the wrong way to do that. Hmmmm.... I will show Dave and see if we could do this.

One small step...

for the renovation. One giant waiting time.

So today I posted off the forms for the Owner Builder Permit. I don't know why it took us so long to get them filled out and the attachments organised but sure did take too long. I think we have gotten to the point where we can't see any action starting for a long time so we can't be bothered rushing it.

We were promised to have the working drawings emailed to us today. Guess what?  No drawings yet and it is midday already. It would be so bad if we had an email apologising and explaining why it is 10 days past when they promised to have them done. But late for no good reason is just bad business.

So, the wait time (assuming no problems with the forms) is 2-3 weeks. Knowing our luck that will push out to 4 weeks.

On a brighter note, I took the boys bunks apart and re-arranged their room yesterday. It really looks like a big boys room I think.
