Plastering the wardrobe and ensuite

 Hello there!

This weekend was kinda boring. It involved much wall packing, insulating and plastering.

First it was the new wardrobe. We put brace ply on it because the wall the we removed to make the wardrobe bigger was braced. This wasn't required in the engineering but we like to be safe.
His little helper is never far away.
There is a bit of an awkward nook in the wardrobe. Not sure how to arrange things in here yet.

 Then came the ensuite.

We need to get the plumbers back because they put the basins taps in the wrong place. Grrr. So we couldn't plaster all the walls yet.

That's it.
Like I said, a boring weekend.

Cheers,

Breaking down the walls

It is amazing how invigorating it is to pull down walls and open up spaces. It is probably just nice having a change as I am even looking forward to going to bed each night now that we had to move it against a different wall. Bizzare but Dave feels the same.

So we began the weekend by selecting and ordering the tiles for the bathroom. They will be about 2 weeks away so gives us so time to prepare the rest of the ensuite.

The time came to break through the bedroom wall to reveal the new ensuite!!!!
That window had to come out too. I might try to sell it to help fund the project.
Then down went the cement sheet floor.
We also had to buy a cavity slider. Unfortunately it is the wrong side so we need to take it back and order another one. But turns out it wasn't a problem as it will be easier to get the plaster in without the door on.

The laundry now looks like this. Dave put up some plaster in case you thought it looked the same. So it gives us a feel of the size on the new laundry now that the walk in wardrobe is framed up.

Speaking on the walk in robe, I spent my day off today taking out all of the clothes and re-homing them and then I started taking out the rails and shelves. Then Dave came home and is currently demoing the rest.
Wardrobe space
Wow!! It will be nice to have more space to spread out our clothes. I am just loving what the house is becoming. It always felt like a distant dream but now it is really changing I feel so spoilt.
He he Sam loves diving face first into our bed. Strange kid!
I think that is all the updates for now.
I am on the prowl for bathroom sconces and mirrors at the moment.

Ensuite roof

During the week we had the plumbers back putting in the ensuite roof and also putting the whirly bird vent back in the roof that the other plumber didn't do.
Roofing material arrived

Working on the ensuite roof

The whirly bird installed once again
I did some tile window shopping also and have a few decisions to make about the tiles. Do I go concrete look on the floor or timber look. I need to show Dave to see what he likes too.
This would look so pretty but maybe a bit much for a small room

Possible concrete look with Marble wall tile

Wood look

Feature tiles for niche

So it is Friday night once again and the list of jobs to do this weekend is rather long.
We also picked up most of the bathroom fittings. Just waiting on the basin taps to arrive. Hopefully Monday.
Yay I am excited!

I love my new door

This weekend was crazy!

We were trying to do so much on the laundry area as well as deciding and trying to buy all the fixtures for the ensuite. I came home empty handed. I went to a different Reeces plmbing shop which was actually really good an helpful and then to Bourne bathrooms who didn't even come over and ask if I needed help so I walked out.

Same thing happened at Bunnings. I tried to buy 2 basins and a shower head I wanted. I waited and waited and looked around for help but there was no assistance and I couldn't reach the basins which were up high. Even when asking at the front for some help all I was told is that they are on break. So frustrating Bunnings!!!!

Hubby had the same issue when he went to the trade entrance later to buy a door. The one assistant was obsessed with attending to the pretty woman and wouldn't even look up. So he left.

He went to Masters and got a brilliant door, better quality, good service and cheaper than Bunnings. This makes me so sad that Masters will be closing down. They do have great stuff there.
This is the door he got:
Windsor Timber Door 2040 x 820 x 40mm - Masters Home Improvement

Masters $179

I am thinking I will just go to Reece to get the things I need because both their stores have had great customer service and at this point that is what I need.

First thing Saturday morning Dave picked up more Blackbutt timber flooring for the lauindry. Cost about $650 from Urban Salvage.
Once we finally got the door (Saturday evening), Sunday (after footy sign up for our eldest) was spent prepping the door jam and hanging it.

Dave also built a frame for the window highlight to go above the door. That laundry will be so light and bright once it is all done.

So this week the plumbers will come back on Wednesday and do the ensuite roof. I need to get these fixtures though. I just hate paying full price.
Anyone know how I can get a discount at Reece's Plumbing?  he he

Weatherboarding the ensuite

On Friday afternoon we have two visitors.

The first was Sam the plumber and his delightful dog which the kids doted upon.
He took a look at the work to be done to plumb up the ensuite and the laundry and fix some other issues with the new roof on the back the the last plumber left and add a garden tap in the backyard. All up I think it will be around to $6-7K.

Then after he came, the surveyor did the final frame inspection and we got the all clear to begin the next stage.

So after a morning taking the boys to a T-ball gala day, the afternoon was spent straightening the walls and wrapping the ensuite.
It looked so cool through the bedroom window where the ensuite door will one day be.
 Then came the weatherboards.

Sunday saw the front being weatherboarded.
 Looking good hey!
Tomorrow we need to measure for the windows and get them ordered.

We think the plumber can start his work on the roof later this week too.

Have a good week everyone.
Cheers,
Nat
